In my house cheese lovers reign supreme. I myself am not a huge fan but spunky husband, sweet little cupcake adore it.
Im talking can not get enough love!
The same goes for my Mum, sister and nieces and nephews . . . my dad is a cheese fan but not to the extent of the rest of the family.
So, when my darling little cupcake pointed out these mozzarella sticks on one of daily viewings of my beloved Pioneer Woman’s cookbook and said in her sweet little voice “please mama can we cook them” how could I possibly refuse?
Gotta make sure girlfriend is getting her daily dose of calcium right?
I did however make a few minor changes . . . the most obvious of these is that I baked the mozzarella sticks instead of frying them. One reason for this is because I simply didn’t have enough oil on hand to fry them . . . which brings me to reason Two . . . Im not really a fan of most things fried.
Sorry.
Also, because there are only 2 real cheese lovers in our little family I made just 1/4 of the original recipe which is the recipe I have shared with you below.
These mozarella sticks are awesome . . . and thats coming from a non cheese lover.
My little cupcake was seriously impressed with them.
They were such a hit that poor spunky husband didn’t even get a taste of the first batch!
So, if your throwing a party and looking for a fun appetiser or just want to throw a party for one . . . in honour of cheese then these mozzarella sticks are the bomb.
Eat some, your belly with be happy 🙂

1 Tbsp milk (I used skim)
1/2 cup Panko bread crumbs
1 tsp dried parsley flakes
Method –
1 – Slice the string cheese in half making a total of 8 pieces
2 – Place flour in a small bowl
3 – In a separate bowl, whisk the egg white and milk
4 – In another bowl combine bread crumbs with the parsley flakes.
5 – One by one. roll the mozzarella pieces in the flour,
6 – Then briefly dunk them in the egg/milk mixture . . .
7 – Finally roll them into the panko mixture. Use your hands in necessary to get the crumbs to adhere.
8 – Place the mozzarella pieces on a baking sheet linked with parchment/baking paper, then place them in the freezer fir 20-30 mins to flash freeze.
9 – Preheat oven to 175’C (350’F)
10 – Bake for 4-5 mins until slight browned and a little oozy.
11 – Serve immediately with warm marinara sauce (or this salsa)
