So I really need to clean my bathroom.

But I just don’t wanna.

It’s got to be the one chore I loath more than any other

Apart from folding laundry . . .

Oh and Ironing . . .

and, and, and . . . 😉

Ugh can’t the magical cleaning fairies come take care of these mind numbing, utterly loathsome (yet sadly totally necessary) tasks for me?

Pretty please?

What I really want to do is make cookies.

You guys I have a new fave cookie , you are going to love it! Choc chip cookies that are insanely delicious, dangerously addictive, healthy and paleo friendly ♥♥♥ But that’s another story for another day . . .

I have → tested, → tasted, → retested and → re-tasted the recipe for those cookies so much in the last few weeks and somehow they keep just disappearing?! How does that happen? No magical cleaning fairies but there sure are some magical cookie eating fairies out there I tell you that! No way I devoured 3 (or more) batches of these cookies in a matter of seconds minutes days! Ok maybe I did #dontjudge

But you know what, I still want more!

Unfortunately I have made them so much that I have run out of one essential ingredient. Almond flour.

So, because I really do not want to clean my bathroom I figured we could have ourselves a little tutorial in how to make your own almond flour.

Procrastinator say whaaaaattt?!

Basically we are just going to throw some almonds into our blender/food processor and whir them into a delicious, soft, fluffy, nutty floury, mealy oblivion. Question – do you call it almond flour or almond meal?! Is there a difference?

Anyways, this is kinda embarrassing to share because it is so not a recipe at all but . . . I do think its kinda cool that you can make your own almond flour (or almond meal) at home.

Plus it’s way cheaper to just make it yourself, pretty sure it will save you a few pennies. Maybe with the money we save making our own almond flour we could pay someone to come clean/fold/iron for us?!

It’s kinda crazy to think about how expensive almond flour can be, especially once you make it yourself.

And to be honest I think I prefer the homemade almond flour. It has a light and fluffy texture and is much softer than the store bought kind. It’s also a slightly different colour which I’m guessing is because it’s less processed. It’s simply almonds ground down into a nice fine flour. Nothing more, nothing less, just good, clean, all natural, unprocessed almond flour. Love, love, love that!

Seriously, how cool is that?!

Use it as you would regular almond flour, bake with it, add a spoonful to your smoothie, sprinkle some over your greek yoghurt for an extra hit of protein and good, healthy fats, YUM!

It’s got to be one of the easiest things in the world to make! Honestly the hardest part will be deciding what to make first. I highly recommend this banana and walnut loaf, it’s pretty incredible (even if I do say so myself) just make sure you save at some of your precious homemade almond flour or be prepared to make another batch because on tuesday, sweet invisible friend of mind, we are making cookies!!!!!!!

What are you waiting for? Go dig that bag of almonds out of the back of your pantry and make yourself some almond flour already. It’s all natural, unprocessed, light, fluffy, nutty deliciousness and it’s ready in just minutes!

And if you want to come clean my bathroom well, I won’t say no . . . I’ll pay you in freshly made almond flour, better yet Ill make some some of my new fave cookies to share with you?!!! Come on, you know you wanna.

Simple, Homemade Almond Flour {Almond Meal}
Makes approx 2 cups of light, fluffy, deliciously nutty almond flour/meal

Ingredients –

2 cups of raw almonds

Method –

1 – Place almonds into a good quality food processor or blender and process until nice and fine. It will look kind of like wet sand. Be careful not to over blend/process we are making flour/meal today not almond butter 😉

2 – Optional – Pass your fretting ground almonds through a fine mesh sieve/strainer to remove any slightly larger, more coarse pieces of outer skins that may remain. I actually don’t bother with this step, totally your call 🙂

3 – Use as you would regular store bought almond flour/meal.

FYI – I like to store my almond flour in the freezer

Enjoy xoxo
