And so begins another week . . . ahh what will it bring I wonder?
I do know one thing, it’s bringing you one incredibly smooth, ice cold, super thick and seriously delicious Maple, almond and banana smoothie thats what!
How good is a smoothie? I mean it’s the ultimate lazy persons feast. Virtually no preparation required. Simply throw all your ingredients into a blender and boom. You’re done.
You don’t even have to bother with all that pesky chewing!
I personally love me a good smoothie. Not only are they super quick and easy to prepare, they are also incredibly good for you. Well, depending on what you put into them. This one that we are making for out “test it out tuesday” recipe is all kinds of good for you.
Like seriously healthy. Thank you Jamie (←yes again) for sharing yet another quick, easy and delicious recipe with the world. This one is perfect for anytime of day.
Breakfast on the run – smoothie
Pre/post workout fuel – smoothie
Can’t decide what to do for lunch – hmm smoothie
Can’t be bothered to cook dinner – totally have a smoothie
Need a little something special and guilt free for dessert – definitely make this smoothie!
4 ingredients, less than a minute in the blender and you have yourself a seriously healthy, seriously satisfying, seriously filling meal I mean whats not to love.
I gotta be honest here people, when I looked at the ingredient list I thought – dude this is going to be all kinds of sweet. But it really wasn’t, the ground almonds add a hint of nuttiness that really balances out the sweetness of the banana and the maple syrup adds an incredible depth of flavour that I can’t really describe. It’s just so good!
Packed with protein from the milk and almonds, potassium, fibre and a bunch of awesome vitamins from the banana (←not to mention that incredible sweetness we all know and love) and the subtle hum of sweet delicious golden nectar from the maple syrup.
This smoothie really does taste like ice cream, and if you add in a pinch of xantan gum* it will get all kinds of thick, like eat it with a spoon thick. Close your eyes and you could be eating maple, almond, banana soft serve. Winning!
Even my little lady loved it. Sweet girl was feeling poorly just over a week ago and alllll she wanted was smoothies which of course I was happy to share. When they taste this good and are this good for you why not right?
I may never eat solid food again, just kidding . . . or am I?!
