Ok so I know this post is loooonnnnggg over due . . . sorry about that.
To be honest my training has taken a bit of a back seat over the last few weeks with us going on vacation and all.
Although not just because I was on vacation, I have plenty of exercises up my sleeve to keep my training in check while travelling but I decided it was time to take a little rest.
If I’m being really honest with you, rest is something I am so not good at.
I know how important it is and will encourage anyone and everyone – friends, family, clients, anyone – to listen to their body and schedule regular periods of rest.
Rest is so very important. For so many reasons, physically and mentally so very important. I know this full well but still I fight it. I just don’t do well with rest. Even though I know how important it is.
We need to give our incredible bodies adequate time to recover from not only intense exercise but just the general business that comes with our every day lives.
It is in these rest and recovery days that our muscles will repair, recover and rebuild, which in turn will show you results.
And isn’t that what we are working for? Results? Change? Progress?
I know I am.
So rest I did.
I still enjoyed some nice casual walks with my adorable little family, and did some nice stretch/yoga classes when I could but really I just took time out to well . . . do not a great deal. And you know what . . . it was truly wonderful.
Just between you and me I’m not gonna lie, it was a little difficult to begin with, but in the end it was wonderful and totally, absolutely 100% worth it.
My body and my mind are feeling rejuvenated, reenergised and ready and raring to finish out the year in a big, big way 🙂
So I thought I would share with youn one of the highlights of our trip, the place where I found the most blissful time of rest and recovery in totally and absolute luxury.
The Four Seasons Hotel in Denver Colorado ♥♥♥
Now I know that many of you may not be able to get yourselves to beautiful Colorado but I beg you, if you ever get the chance, do yourself a favour and go!
My dear, sweet, invisible internet friends who are fortunate enough to be travelling to Denver Colorado this holiday season if you can get yourself even just one night in this glorious hotel, you totally should. A little christmas gift to yourself and your family maybe? Trust me, you won’t be sorry.
It was 3 weeks ago that we had the divine pleasure of staying here and I am still dreaming on that incredible bed and sweet darling daughter of mine is still begging to go back there.
“Please mama can’t we just go back and stay forever”
Oh how I wish we could sweet girl, how I wish we could.
Here is a little peek into our dream home at The Four Seasons
Our gorgeous front door.entry way complete with its own doorbell!
We were greeted with this delicious and pretty little complimentary fruit plate and freshly bottled water.
Just what you need after a long day(s) of travelling
The glorious master bed
The view from our big, beautiful master bed ♥
I adore this little set up right by our big beautiful bed, Many sweet snuggles and stories were read with our little lady in that very chair. So, sweet, cozy and comfy
Oh and giant flatscreen TV and extra linen closet, check
Another shot of our big beautiful Master bed because well it’s just so big and beautiful. best nights sleep I ever had happened right there in that big, giant bed right there. Bliss!
Now, onto the glorious master bathroom!
His and Hers basin and yes that is a TV you see in the middle of the mirror there!
The main shower . . . that big round shower head you see up there was like taking a shower under a heavy, yet gentle and soft private little waterfall. And let me just tell you these ceiling in this shower was so high that spunky husband who is 6ft4 was able to enjoy his shower standing tall rather than all hunched over under the tiny little shower head. See is fate, we need to move in!
Oh and the floors . . . totally heated . . . with their own thermostat so you can set it as warm or cool as you like?!
And those bathrobes you see hanging either side of the shower, so fluffy, so thick, so soft.
And yes there was a shorty robe just for the little lady
And don’t even get me started on this bath. I mean look at the faucet for crying out loud? Even the way the bath runs here is so, so pretty!
Then we tai a short walk down this glorious little hallway and into out second/guest bathroom
Another beautiful basin, more super soft, super fluffy, super comfy bathrobes so really you never have to get dressed into proper clothes! #bathrobesforlife
Another glorious, specious, rainforest waterfall style shower
Next up is our luxurious living room
Soft (foldout) couch that feels like it hugs you back as you sink on in while still providing incredible support at the same time. How is that even possible?!
Another cute and cozy story time chair complete with office desk/chair/phone/fax set up right there in the corner.
And last but not least out sweet little dining table and breakfast/coffee/mini bar set up.
I know these photos do not do any sort of justice to how beautiful this room actually was especially the views.
This is what the view actually was just beyond the city limits, you can see it clearly from in the room itself but it was the first snowfall of the season the day I took these photos so it was kinda hazy and the camera just didn’t pick it up.
They also have a wonderful spa facility and I was fortunate enough to enjoy a relaxing, luxurious hour long massage. To. Die. For!
I also enjoyed an incredible pesto grilled chicken salad, custom made upon request and delivered right into my room at some crazy, let lag inspired hour and let me just say. This salad . . . ah-maze! Spunky husband had himself a killer black angus burger and the little lady enjoyed herself a delicious little cheese pizza. All of which I did not photograph because I had my head well and truly stuck into my salad . . . what?! A girls gotta eat 😉
They have an incredibly extensive room service menu and the Edge reastaurnt that is attached to the hotel itself is award winning. Beautiful decor, beautiful, food, wonderful staff and amazing service.
Oh and don’t even get me started on breakfast . . . they have a wonderful, extensive menu every thing from smoothies, bircher muesli, fresh fruit and yoghurt, waffles, pancakes, breakfast meats and perfectly poached eggs.
If you want pancakes I suggest you order your own plate because these sweet little silver dollar pancakes are so incredibly good, subtly sweet, light and fluffy . . . your family will not share.
Not more than one single , solitary bite anyway.
So there you have it friends, my sweet, long overdue, much needed and slightly indulgent period of rest.
If you find yourself in my beloved Denver I encourage you to find a way to indulge in a little rest, recovery and luxury of your own at the incredible Four Seasons Hotel. The staff are warm, friendly, accommodating and extremely professionally, the hotel itself is breath taking and the services and facilities that they have available have something for everyone.
Love, love, love and can not wait to go back!
I’ll be back in a few weeks with an update on my training with the usual what I’m eating/drinking/wearing/planning/doing etc
In the mean time – tell me sweet, invisible internet friend of mine, how do you spend your all important time of rest?
