We made it!
We are safe and sound in the US of A and could not be happier . . . or more worn out – totally worth it!
So . . . my posts over the next week or so may be a little . . . let’s say, sporadic for a few reasons.
1 – I’m on vaycay yo! And I plan to spend some serious time enjoying my adorable little family, taking it allllllll in. Seeing the sights, eating the food, doing the shopping, eating the food again and most importantly making some extra special memories with my two favourite people in the entire world.
2 – Plus I don’t know how much internet access I will have to write and share these posts with you.
I could schedule them to go out in advance but . . .
A – I don’t know how to do that #dontjudge
B – I like to keep things real, writing and sharing real life moments/thoughts/happenings/whats going on as they actually happen . . .
but really it’s all about #1 –
Now, would you believe that the week before we left for this incredible trip our sweet little lady got hit with the worst virus she has had to date. Girlfriend was in a world of hurt and sicker than I had ever seen her. It was heart breaking.
In our family when we get sick we get our smoothie on. Who am I kidding, not a day goes by that we don’t get our smoothie on but when we are sick we bust out the big guns. And this sickness needed something a little extra special so, I busted out one of my all time favourite, classic flavour combinations.
Strawberry and banana baby! ♥♥♥
Nothing beats a classic.
Made with just a handful of all natural, real food ingredients it’s doesn’t get much better!
Plus it’s pretty in pink and for little girls who are obsessed with princesses, sprinkles and all things well, pink I knew it would be just what the doctor ordered. Mama knows best right?! Right 😉
I remember growing up eating strawberry banana yoghurt and love, love, loving it and then for some reason it just disappeared?! What’s that about? So not cool!
Anyways, you know what is cool? Making your own all natural, pretty in pink, thick, creamy, ice cold, dairy free strawberry and banana smoothie thats what!
I made this smoothie dairy free by using unsweetened vanilla almond milk ( ← um hello totally addicted) and this incredibly decadent, all natural, organic coconut yoghurt (← so, so good I can’t even tell you) and you know what . . . I (we) absolutely adored it. And, because we are using coconut yoghurt and almond milk this beautiful little smoothie is not only all natural and all kinds of delicious, it also happens to be vegan, dairy free and paleo friendly. Winning!!!
The light, sweet coconut yoghurt combined with sweet, juicy strawberries and that ripe, pre-frozen banana is simply a match made in heaven.
Then when you add in the slight savoury, nuttiness of the almond milk it just seems to balance out the sweetness of the coconut yoghurt, strawberries and banana so perfectly, it’s absolutely divine.
Quick, easy and perfect anytime of day.
Breakfast on the run – Yes!
Pre/post workout fuel – Totally!
Lunch on the go – You bet ya’
Looking for a little something special and guilt free for dessert – I got you covered!
Or the perfect treat for poor sick little (and not so little) girls (or boys) who need something extra special ♥
All natural, ice cold, subtly sweet, pretty in pink strawberry and banana smoothie . . .
Make it, drink it, love, love, love it
Strawberry Banana Smoothie {Dairy Free, Vegan & Paleo Friendly}
Makes 1 very large or 2 small all natural, creamy, pretty in pink strawberry banana smoothiesIngredients –
1/4 cup coconut yoghurt
1 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1/2 cup of strawberries, fresh or frozen
1/2 an overripe banana (preferably pre-frozen)
1/2-1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1/2-1 cup of ice depending on how icy you like your smoothies
Method –
1 – Place all ingredients into a blender and process until smooth and creamy.
2 – Taste and adjust as to taste. Depending on your personal preference and how sweet/tart your strawberries are you may want to add a little extra sweetness. Try adding a sachet (or 1/2 a teaspoon of stevia), some extra vanilla of up to 1 Tablespoon of maple syrup. I have tried all of these and they are all delicious. #justsayin
3 – To serve, pour into a chilled glass or mason jar and get your all natural, dairy free pretty in pink strawberry banana milk on
Enjoy xoxo
