This is something I stumbled across by accident yet have found to be so handy. I don’t know about you, in our house buttermilk is not something I usually have on hand. This can also referred to “sour milk”. Its so easy.

All you need is 1 Tablespoon of vinegar or lemon juice (I usually use white vinegar) for each cup of milk (can be skim, regular or half and half).

All you have to do it put the vinegar or lemon juice in with your milk and allow it to sit for about 5 mins, you will see it start to sort of separate and coagulate at the same time (sounds weird I know, but trust me, it works). Then voila’ you have your very own, home made “buttermilk”

Do you have any handy hints or helpful little tips to share? Feel free to leave them in the comments below, I would love to hear from you 🙂
